If you ever happen to be in Tunbridge Wells, this is where you want to go for your coffee. If you're coming from the train station, head up the hill and you'll get to it before the Chain of Chains (Costa, Nero, Starbucks and even Muffin Break are within about 20 metres of each other).

Don't be put off by the fact that Ismael is located within an outdoor clothing and camping shop. It is easily the best coffee in town. Incidentally, it's also the best tea and hot chocolate. If you drink macchiato, as I do, it's not on the menu, but they'll make it anyway. And they'll even ask you to say "when" with your milk and froth...

The 'Princess of Wales Royal Regiment'

News: Local Soldier to Recieve Operational Tour Medal at Homecoming Parade

As part of the Homecoming Parade celebrations in Royal Tunbridge Wells on Friday 17th July, Private Andrew Neil from Tunbridge Wells will receive his Operation TELIC medal for service in Iraq. The 22-year-old soldier has served with the First Battalion The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment (1 PWRR) for ten months. He will be presented with his medal by the Mayor of Tunbridge Wells, Cllr Leonard Price, at the ceremony in front of the Assembly Hall, which starts at 12.15pm.


Private Alex Chapman from Canterbury, who has served with 1 PWRR for one and a half years, will also receive a medal at the Homecoming Parade celebrations. The Mayor will present the 21-year-old with his Operation HERRICK medal for services in Afghanistan.


The Homecoming Parade in Royal Tunbridge Wells will mark the return of 1 PWRR from active service in Iraq and Afghanistan. Soldiers from 1 PWRR will parade in Crescent Road in front of the Assembly Hall Theatre at 12.15pm and will be inspected by the Mayor, Cllr Leonard Price. Privates Neil and Chapman will then be presented with their medals before a speech and reply from the Mayor and Brigadier S F Deakin respectively. Following an exchange of gifts, the Battalion will march through the streets of Royal Tunbridge Wells.
